Customer Reviews

If you need to lance a lot...Sometime ago I expressed concern about high blood glucose readings and was given the AIC test which came back at 7.3 which put me about 15% into the diabetic over the aggregate period of the previous three months.I got a prescription of Metformin, and the Accu-Chek kit, with the test strips and this lancet.Obviously, it is not pleasant to have to draw blood from your finger. However, if you're like me you will get used to it after a while.I bought a second kit which did not include a lancet for testing at work. Unofrtunately, that kit did not include a lancet. So, I used the lancets without a lancing device, which as you may imagine was a bit more uncomfortable. Sometimes I would jab too tentatively and not draw enough blood, then I would over compensate and jab too deep.So I got fed up with this and ordered this little beast. The beauty of it is that you can adjust the settings from 1 to 6 with the higher setting being more suitable for thicker skin to ensure you get enough blood, and once you have the correct one for you then you know how to draw a small amount of blood. You don't even need a whole drop to touch the test strip as the strip is very sensitive and seems to magnetically draw in the blood to give you the reading. The lancet is inexpensive as is the monitor. These companies make their money off the test strips and the kit gives 7 , 14 and 30 averages for monitoring your blood sugar readings. I would recommend you get the strips here on Amazon rather than at the Pharmacy, as my plan only allowed one test per day. I followed protocols laid out in several books, and had another AIC test several months later, and got my readings down to 5.8 which is the bottom end of the pre diabetic range. This lancet has played its role as one element. I think you will find it very useful, better to use this device than less sophisticated methods. 5I've used at least six different lancing devices and this is hands down the best device. The pharmacist explained that low qualiI'm rather new to testing my blood sugar. I've used at least six different lancing devices and this is hands down the best device. The pharmacist explained that low quality ones jiggle a little, making the poke a little (or a lot) more painful. This one does not. I get just the right amount of blood for testing and best thing is the sore fingers are finally healing. It's not l mentioned in the description but mine came in a sealed manufacturer's box plus it included the alternative site cap. I like this device so much that I opted to Use this device for a recent hospital stay instead of use their horrible device. The only con, if it can even be called that, is that the cap is small and can easily roll away. I learned that lesson quickly. 5Same as the US versionPurchased Feb 2019 from the seller PrimeSupplies - Pretty close if not the same as the one that came with my sons US meter kit, except it was German branded. Lancets were a little different, but the US branded ones fit and work the same in the device. Very pleased and would buy again. 5Smaller version of the best lancet device ever!!I've been a Type I Diabetic since the '80s.I've lost count of the number and kinds of lancet devices I've used over the years.Hands down, no contest, this is the best one. It is so gentle! After I think at least 5-7 years, my original one broke, most likely from so many drops. I'm pretty rough with my meter case, as I toss it around with my backpacks. The internal spring wouldn't cock 80% of the time, but I was still able to get it to work by playing with it until I was too frustrated with it.I ended up using a spare Bayer device, and I couldn't believe how much it hurt to test now. It literally reminded my of the old '80s devices I used to use!Even though my fingers are quite beat up at this point, I still am able to use the 2 of 10 depth setting. I had to dial it back from 2.5 because it was hurting. 2 is perfect for me.I immediately searched and found this one on Amazon. I bought a few to make sure I'm set for a good long while.Note:This device - Accu-Chek SoftClix Lancet Device I had never seen before. It came up on the Amazon search along with the one below, and I bought them both. This device is literally just a much smaller version of the below device. Think of it like Bic Pen, but shorter. The other device - Accu-Chek Softclix PLUS Lancet Device originally came included with the Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter. This was the meter with the 10 count strip cartridge drum. The lancet device slides onto / along side of the meter. That's what the channel along the body is, if you were wondering. Both take the same lancets, and look and feel to be engineered the same way.I made mention of this difference because I couldn't tell from the product descriptions. I hope this helps someone. The only reason I gave this smaller version a 4 star and the other a 5 star is because this smaller one has a metal clip on it. I assume it is for keeping clipped to your front pocket or pants pocket. This is really, really annoying to me, but it may not bother anyone else. I keep my meter, strips, and lancet in a case, so I would never use this metal clip. The lancet device works exactly the same and feels exactly the same as its big brother. 4Great Lancing Device !!This lancing device is the easiest to use and less painful of all the ones we have tried during the past 14 years. To eject the lancet after use simply point it downward and press the button on the opposite end. The lancet pops right out with no risk of accidently pricking your finger as can happen with the types of devices where you have to manually pull the lancet out of the device. The dial makes it easy to change the depth of puncture. I use #2 for myself and #5 for my husband. This lancing device couldn't be any simplier to operate. 5Best dracula device madeSet to zero, put a rubber band around the target finger, click this baby and just enough blood comes out to do the job. The jab is so minor I have not had any residual pain at all. The trick is the rubber band tourniquet applied with just a little construction. 5Very painless! So, have started testing my blood sugar and ketones as part of a keto diet, which reverses diabetes, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, etc. (already have lost nearly 16 pounds in 2 weeks, fasting blood sugar is excellent at under 85, BP is down 30 points). This "poker" seemed to have the best reputation for the least amount of pain. The one that came with my testing device kit was quite painful, and uses a bigger diameter lance. This one, on the other hand, is smaller (maybe one of the smallest on the market, from what I can tell) plus uses a beveled edged lance, meaning a cleaner, easier poke. I have mine set at Level 3, and it yields a good bead of blood that's nearly painless to obtain, so this one is a winner! I can actually set it at 2.5, and still get enough of the red stuff for a glucose test, but the ketone test strips require a bit more, so setting 3 is perfect.Couldn't believe how long it took me to do the very first poke (much respect to those doing this all the time, for all of life), just very difficult to psych myself into self-injury I guess, and, unfortunately, I did not yet have this one when I did it, so it was painful. Switching to this one, it's now so simple and pain free, I barely feel it.Thanks for all the reviews, helping me to find this lancing device. Makes blood testing a breeze!Highly recommend! 5HARD to loadI bought this because I accidentally bought the lancets that ONLY fit in this device. It is hard to load, hard to reassemble after loading, hard to adjust for depth and as soon as I use all the lancets, I intend to throw it away. I have two other lancing devices that are extremely easy to load and I will get the proper lancets and use them as soon as I can. There should be an industry standard for lancets in my opinion. You should not be surprised when you get lancets and then find they are "special" and will not fit a particular device. If you like it, good on you. But, I do not. 2My Favorite lancing deviceI use this lancing device at least 2 tines a day. You can adjust the depth of the lancet which is wonderful, it s easy to use, the cap pulls off to replace the lancet. This is my 2nd Accu-chek Lancing device, this is my favorite brand. I ve been doing finger sticks for 35 years. 5Convenient, hurts lessI was told this would hurt less than my first device, so I thought I'd give it a try. It is very gentle, but anytime you draw blood it's going to hurt. However some pros of this lancer are that it has more depth settings, starting at just one-half which usually works for me. Also the pen shape makes it easy to put in a shirt pocket. Recommended. 4
