Thick And AbsorbentThese gauze pads are excellent for dressing a wound, including post-surgery wounds. They are large and provide good coverage. What I like best about these gauze pads is that they are thick and absorbent. They are perfect for dressing my post-surgical wound after my kidney transplant. I placed two orders for these gauze pads because they met all my needs. Should I need more, I will order again. 5Great gauze pads with options for reshaping if neededI have used these "hospital grade" 4"x4" J&J gauze pads & also the "regular" "quilt-vent" J&J 4"x4" gauze pads & like them both, for different reasons.I like these "hospital grade" gauze pads because they are soft, protective, relatively thick and have a thin solid lining that both helps absorbency & also stabilizes the pad's shape so it stays put well over places that may flex or be not flat, like knees & tops of feet. (Don't ask!)I also like them because their gauze is well-woven but not stiff, and with the lining, and lots of plies, it's possible to unfold them and refold them into a larger square or a rectangle, either of which still has good absorbency & shape stability & allows for protection in bigger areas or over longer wounds. You can also refold them to be smaller, thicker squares or rectangular pads, or cut them down into smaller or irregular shapes that still maintain absorbency & shape stability because of both the fabric weave & the liner.The"quilt-vent" version are softer, still protective & absorbant, with a thin inner lining & lots of plies, but less shape-stable, so if opened & refolded to larger squares or rectangles, they are more likely to stretch out, which can be useful in some situations, such as covering other kinds of dressings for extra padding, or using over moving parts that are easily irritated. And I wouldn't try cutting the "quilt-vent" type into other (smaller) shapes because of the hexagonal cells of the gauze, although they would work well if refolded into smaller squares or rectangles. So, given my "druthers", I pick these "hospital grade" gauze pads when I can get them at a good price. 5Not as expectedThis is totally not the 4 x 4 gauze that I typically purchase by Johnson and Johnson. It's sounds almost plastic like when moved and has a tissue like paper on the inside of a very VERY thin piece of gauze. Not happy and I can definitely not use this particular style on my wounds as the gauze does not stay in its "4 x 4" shape. Not refundable either! Beware! 1Convenient but PriceyI have a skin condition that drains and requires a lot of use of this product. I use a lot so I run out fast. It is convenient because stores are not stocking them much anymore. Very Pricey though, very very pricey. It sucks because it is a must have. Could save 10 bucks at Walmart if they had it stocked often. 4these are very goodkeep these all the time. these are a very good size and thickness. i use as designed, but as a diabetic i also unfold them, refold differently and put them in my armpits and under my breasts and elsewhere to keep down the rubbing and sweat irritation that can lead to skin infections. very effective. especially this year with the extreme heat for so long that the air conditioning just could not keep up with even in my basement apartment. 5Product changed, but still okay.I had purchased this expecting the same product from years past. Previous version has one 4x4 pad per individually sealed pack. Now, they pack 2 of them per pack. Some wounds only require one 4x4 pad so opening a pack with 2 pads would be a waste. After purchasing other brands, this appears to be the new trend. This is why I didn't dock it a further star as it appears the old ways of single-pad packs are gone. 3Pretty standard. Cool anecdote insideThese are gauze pads. I use them as part of my general first-aid kit. Not much to say, but here is a nice anecdote:I went on a wilderness backpacking trip with a nasty infected abscess on my leg. I used normal tan/pink medical tape to completely tape one of these pads to the wound and even went swimming in a not-so-clean cove, with no problem. This doesn't really say anything about the pads but I would buy them again 5J&J products are my favoritesJ&J products are the best. Other products like this rolled gauze have ended up in the trash. They all seem to scratch. The gauze stays on my neck 24/7 (changed daily) due to a personal medical condition and, until proven different, will never buy anything but J&J. This includes their rolled "cloth" tape as well. That paper tape is absolutely not for me. It is worth the extra cost for how I use both products. 4Was not the same as Band-Aid by Johnson and Johnson ...Was not the same as Band-Aid by Johnson and Johnson. Cheap gauze and not even full coverage since I open them up to put additional gauze inside for excess fluid. Ordered 4 boxes - but would not order them again. They are OK - just not what I was expecting. 3Stay away, piece of junk!!This product is not as advertised. The pads are thin and stiff. A total waste of money!Deserves no stars. 1
