Great value (compared to pricing them out at national drug ...Of course, I couldn't just use my left hand wrist brace this time around when I experienced De Quervain's tenosynovitis (Mommy's thumb) since I got it on my right hand this time. Damn, kids...This works really well for the pain that I have in my wrist to the base of my thumb. It stabilizes my thumb so that when I am using my hand to push, pull, or pick things up (11 month old), it doesn't allow the pressure to be put on my thumb, making it hurt. Now my wrist and thumb are stable and protected so I don't have much pain.Great value (compared to pricing them out at national drug stores), and works really well. 5BUY ITThis is a great product. I fractured my scaphoid bone in my wrist. The orthopedic put a hard cast on it. It was driving me crazy - cutting into the palm of my hand & around my thumb. I asked for it to be removed - the doctor ignored my call, so I took it off myself and bought this. Before it was delivered I was wearing the splint the dr. gave me before getting the cast. This brace is so much more supportive than the splint, and I would say it as good & even better than the stiff cast that I had been wearing. The brace has a cloth sleeve to slip your hand into and also a cloth sleeve to fit your thumb which is great since the Velcro strap doesn't hurt your thumb. I highly recommend this brace. 5SAVE YOUR MONEY! This is poorly designed. There are better splints for this price...I got this in the correct size for my wrist according to the product info chart. Right out of the box, it looks good: covered seams, sturdy materials, tons of splint-age. Even a ribbed wrist sock , plus lots of comfy-looking padding. That s where the good stuff ends, though. The sock lining is rolled over inwards to hide the raw edges. Putting on the brace for the first time, my fingers snagged a good inch and a half of lining material on the inside of the sock. No matter, I thought, and rolled it back in, positioned my hand in the brace and began tightening the straps. Where do I start? The material is uncomfortably stiff, the splints poorly positioned to support either thumb or wrist (I need stabilization for both to address an inflamed tendon at the base of my wrist/thumb joint), a very thick and stiff piece of material (painful!) at the thumb/palm joint... and the straps are too long. The brace, with all splints in and properly adjusted, painfully pulls the thumb unnaturally under the palm, instead of holding it in a neutral position. Part of the problem is that the pocket for the wrist splint is incorrectly positioned right at the base of the thumb on the palm, and right next to the thumb splint. There just isn t enough (any) space between the thumb splint and the wrist brace for it to work! For comparison, I ve included a photo of this brace (black) next to another brace from Amazon at the same price (blue). You ll notice the gap between the wrist splint, and thumb spica on the blue brace, which makes a world of difference. The braceability brace, however, pulls the thumb into the palm when the wrist splint is correctly positioned, or pulls the wrist splint into the thumb joint when the thumb is correctly positioned. In short: no way to win this.Removing the wrist splint and the removable thumb splint does make the brace softer. But unless you want a soft brace that takes quite a few adjustments to make it work, there are better options for the price on Amazon. If you must use this brace, it wouldn t be a bad idea to check with you doctor or physical therapist if this is the right product for you. And, in case I wasn t clear and you re still wondering, the brace once adjusted, does not hold the thumb in the position you see in the product photos on this page. 1Best one I've foundThis was the most comfortable brace I could find for my small wrist and hand width. It also keeps your thumb in a normal position, slightly down and not sticking out to the side. There's lots of extra velcro on the straps, so be prepared to cut off the excess. There is one bulky seam that bothers me a little, but I imagine I"ll either get used to it, or have to cutt off the bulk somehow. Otherwise it would've been a 5 star. 4Works Very WellThis brace works much better for me than the one I purchased in the drug store for more money. The pharmacist said it was the best one they offered, but it is a one size fits all adjustable type. My wrists are way to small for that. The XS size of this one fits me perfectly. It keeps my wrist in place. I wanted one with a thumb stabilizer because despite having tendonitis I continue to overuse my hand and wrist. The pain was not enough of a deterrent but barely being able to use my hand is. If you remove the metal piece on the thumb side it is somewhat more flexible. I find the elastic on the thumb irritating. Other than that I think it is very effective. 4True to sizeI was diagnosed with De Quervain tendinitis last week and was told to get this brace. I can t believe the difference it s made after wearing one day. Fits perfectly (wrist measured 6 1/4 but I got small) and had no issues puttjng on. 5Brace causes further pain to injuryI got this product for De Quervain s Tenosovitis. The description states that this product can be used for that injury. There is a hard lump right where it presses against my injured tendon, yet the rest of the brace is padded. Did I get a defective brace, or is it designed this way? I was hoping for some relief today, instead my injury is worse... 1Will work for it's purposeFor reference for future buyers: I am a woman with average sized arms and wrists and I ordered a small and it fits me well, their size chart is accurate.Pros:1. This splint did help keep my wrist and thumb from moving around too much so I was better within 4-6 weeks.2. It was comfortable for the most part and was easy to live with as I was still able to type and do many daily tasks unencumbered.3. It will certainly work for most, it adjusts easily to your arm, wrist, and thumb size, so it can accommodate the person's individual needs easily. Also, being able to remove the metal splint bars to adjust for each person and the amount of mobility you want is nice.Cons:1. I don't know if this is the case for the larger sizes, but with the small splint, unlike in the picture where the straps end and fold over flush at the side of the forearm, the velcro straps extend way beyond where they attach by at least 3 inches. While it doesn't negatively affect its fit or purpose, this leaves the leftover strap ends just flopping freely around. It doesn't look great as the ends straps get all bent and folded over time. If it bothers you then you can simply cut the excess off without it affecting the splint. I just accepted the floppy straps ends, but some people who have to wear it to work may not like that the straps aren't flush to the splint.2. The inner comfort sock wasn't hemmed and so it unraveled within a few days of normal wear, this caused me to have to constantly cut off clumps of loose strands and not use the inner sock. This didn't affect the splint, but it affected the appearance greatly.3. On occassion the thumb velcro would catch and snag on my clothing, particularly chiffon and other types of breezy fabric that you really don't want around velcro, so make sure to avoid wearing fabrics that snag easily. 4Very good support for mobilizing the wrist and thumbThis brace was purchased for my husband. The doctor wanted him to mobilize his wrist and thumb for 2 weeks. Since he teaches Spinning, he knew he would ruin the leather brace the doctor gave him, so we purchased the BraceAbility for him to use when teaching. It worked well and I was able to wash it to remove the sweat. I placed it in a lingerie bag to keep the velcro from ruining other clothes and put in the washing machine to wash. 5I would highly recommend it.I had deQuervain Syndrome, and this brace worked perfectly. I would highly recommend it. 5
