What a hidden secret!I have had to use splints/braces for my hands on and off for years. But I've always gone into the store and bought whatever brand they had there. Most of them (back in the day) had latex in them, which later in life I became allergic to. Speed forward to today and I need splints/braces again for both hands. This time I searched and found the Bracoo Wrist Brace with thumb stabilizer which is just what I need. I bought one for my right hand. I was never so gently surprised that after wearing this in the heat of the summer that I never got the thought in my head, "OMG this is so hot, I've got to take it off." The thumb area is great because it goes to the tip of my thumb which is good because I have very long fingers. I do have two other splints as well, which are shorter in length on the wrist part. I thought I would prefer them for that reason, but nope, I keep coming back to the Bracoo. I feel secure wearing it and my thumb joint is being supported and not going to get injured in anyway. So if you need a really good, one that doesn't make your limb sweat when it gets hot outside, supportive, lots of velcro for staying on power, try the Bracoo, you won't be disappointed. And it's pretty!! Not the common black splint. 5... because I have De Quervain's Syndrome and it works great! I have to admit I was very skeptical ...I bought this because I have De Quervain's Syndrome and it works great! I have to admit I was very skeptical about purchasing this because I had purchased so many braces that didn't help at all but this brace really keeps your thumb from moving. With the brace I'm actually able to do a lot more things that before without having to worry about it not healing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has De Quervain's Syndrome. 5Keeps my wrist 100% immobile!Purchased to wear at night for carpal tunnel and rheumatoid arthritis pain. I was looking for something that would also keep my thumb in place (and provide a little traction and compression, if desired). The piece running through the brace to keep it from moving is extremely sturdy: when I have it on, I am able to keep my wrist entirely immobile. Sometimes, my thumb pops out while I'm sleeping, but the bracelet still stays in place over my wrist so it keeps working. 5Highly Recommended!I purchased this brace/stabilizer to help alleviate the pain, a searing sharpness on the side of my right hand, diagnosed by my doctor as "mommy thumb," formally known as De Quervain's tendinitis. It is an inflammation of the tendons below the thumb down to the wrist caused by the constant lifting action of my newborn and cradling her head while nursing her. It feels like I have a bruised bone (PAINFUL!)My doctor stated my options were to stop lifting my daughter (impossible), receiving a cortisone shot to mask the pain (last resort for me), or wearing a brace to immobilize my thumb and thus preventing it from "sagging" or over-extending when I lift my daughter. I thought I would try the brace first, and if the pain did not subside, resort to cortisone shot. I was hesitant to use the brace because I did not want it to inhibit my mobility and/or scratch my daughter's sensitive skin.long story short, the brace has been amazing! Although I cannot say the pain is completely gone...it has improved significantly. I think if I were to wear this brace religiously (which I sometimes fail to do/or forget to wear) the pain would be gone by now. It fits my small wrist (another concern of mine) perfectly because the Velcro adjustment is well made. It is not a nuisance to my daily activity, as I often forget I even have it on. I would highly recommend this product. What makes it even more amazing is the price. You would expect to receive a low quality item with such a low price. But that could not be farther from the truth. EXCELLENT PURCHASE! WELL MADE! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT! 5Very pleasedThis splint is well made; all the stitching is straight and in place. The material and edge binding are sturdy but not rough as to cause skin irritation. This is the only thumb splint I could find that has a metal support. I'm not convinced that the neoprene glove (which was much more expensive) from the local drug store would sufficiently immobilize my thumb. This is also the only one that mentions the reason for my purchase: tenosynovitis. I've used it for about a week & it is working as I expected. 5Exactly What I Needed For My TenosynovitisI developed tenosynovitis from lifting and caring for my 4-month old baby. I thought it would get better on its own, but after a month of pain, I eventually learned that a spica splint was what I needed. I ordered two different spica splints from Bracoo; this one, and Bracoo Thumb Spica Stabilizer, Reversible Wrist Brace for Carpal Tunnel, Sprains - Dual Splints, Breathable Neoprene & Adjustable Strap, Fulcrum. The latter was too short and didn't adequately immobilize my wrist. Its rigid splints also rubbed on the painful part of my wrist, which was not helpful. This one, on the other hand, which goes up higher on the forearm, actually immobilizes my wrist. The rigid metal support is supposed to go under the wrist, and does not rub on the painful part of your wrist when put on properly. After a week of near-constant wear, I see a marked improvement, even though I'm still lifting and caring for my baby. The splint is well-constructed and holding up quite well. I take it on and off frequently to wash my hands, and the velcro still looks great. My only suggestion is that you use some scissors to round the edge of the velcro tab that wraps around the thumb, since it could scratch you otherwise. 5Perfect for wrist and thumb injuriesPerfect for what I need it for! I broke my wrist a few years ago ice skating and have been battling with De Quervain syndrome (basically painful tendinitis from thumb to wrist) ever since. I m an avid Crossfitter and the syndrome is from overuse. I am constantly grabbing onto weights and bars and gripping my fingers over my thumb in a fist to hold onto most things and I can t do any of that. I needed a brace that immobilizes my thumb so t won t get pulled back or down. The brace fits perfect thanks to the Velcro straps. The thumb piece comes up just above my top knuckle so I can still hold onto things. If you have to type, you would definitely not be able to use your thumb. I am using it until the tendinitis goes away. I purchased two though so I can wash one and wear the other alternating. I also wanted a flesh tone one instead the black. I know people will still ask what s up with my wrist but the black stands out so much more. 5Good for daytime, to limit motion of thumb/wrist through support.This is one of the few braces/splits that really keeps my thumb and wrist from moving too much during the day. As others have noted, is has a full metal split that spans from end-to-end, which is the main support of this brace. It adjusts easily too, and the skin-tone color is unobtrusive and perfect for daytime wearing. When my injury was at its worst, I could not even flex my hand enough to put it through most tubular braces. This brace fully opens so that flexing the hand in any way is not needed to put the brace on. If you have any type of hand/wrist/thumb injury, make sure not to overlook treating the injury at night time, when most vulnerable to accidental re-injury. 4Just received it, put it on &, wow, instant relief to my wrist & thumb!Just received my left & right Bracoo braces today & since I needed the left one immediately I put it on right away. So far, I am loving it! My thumb bases & wrists easily dislocate, due to Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility. I've tried various ways of dealing with this wrist/thumb issue, & so far, this brace has easily been the best, plus, these braces are very reasonably priced, especially for a left & right set.As soon as the left brace was on, my wrist & thumb, from the base all the way up to just over the top knuckle were comfortably stabilized. I can easily use all my fingers & the top of my thumb (able to bend it slightly, so it's still useable) & pivot my wrist, but not bend it. This relieved a lot of pain right away!The brace, fresh out of the packaging, looks odd at first, but is easy to put on, especially if you read the instruction sheet first, which I highly suggest for this brace. The way it's designed, made to wrap around the thumb & wrist, it will easily fit a variety of sizes. I have very small hands & fingers & skinny wrists, but this is super-duper adjustable & would easily fit a much larger framed person as well. Also, it's surprisingly slim (not thick & bulky), so it's easy to pack, wouldn't take up much room in a bag or in luggage.Glad I also bought the right hand brace, not looking forward to having to use it, but nice knowing I already have a great thumb & wrist stabilizing brace for that hand when I do need it.I'd highly recommend this brace to anyone in need of an affordable, adjustable wrist AND thumb stabilizing brace. 5Decent BraceThis is a decent brace if you only need it for light support. Issues:1. No padding2. The metal support is straight with no contouring.If you just need it as a reminder to keep from using your thumb -or- for sleeping. Then this is great. But, if you need it for more than that. Meh. 3
