Bad product - bad return policyUpdate:Like I said, this bag was yellow-ish in color, and it doesn't mix with coffee at all for me. My previous bag was white and mixed into hot liquids just fine. So, I tried to return this new bag, but first I tried calling their 800 number to get the details since it appeared they would only refund for the smallest size they sell - no matter what size you purchased - and they charge you to return their defective product.Well, I called once on a Friday, never talked to a person, and was on hold for 22 minutes before I gave up. I thought that maybe I had gone past their 4PM cutoff for assistance during my hold time, and they automatically put me in a "never pick it up but don't tell the customer we've stopped answering the phone for the day" limbo.So I thought I'd give them another chance - I called a second time and was ON HOLD FOR 52 MINUTES before I gave up again. Lesson learned - don't bother trying to call this company. So I sent a message, and they did respond to that, but the news wasn't good. They said that the yellow color is normal, it doesn't mix well in hot water, and the return policy is unfortunately as bad as I had read.I like one of their other products, and I guess I will keep ordering it, but I will never order this again while knowing that they either changed something in the batches, or my bag was just "bad", but I would have only been refunded a fraction of what I paid for the 2.2 lb bag, and the fact that I have to pay for return shipping for something that appears bad to me (and is different than my last bag).------------------------------------------------------Maybe I just received an "off" batch, but the new bag I just received seems to be a pale yellow color - my previous bag was pretty much white. Also, when I try to mix this new bag into my coffee, it just clumps together on itself in a pretty gross, yellow-ish, alien-looking contorted blob (lol). It's really hard to get it to all dissolve, and even when I do, it's so sticky that I can't get all of it to come off of the spoon.I was willing to keep buying this "Chinese cow" collagen powder, but something about this newest batch doesn't seem right. Maybe I'll try to return it and try one more bag. Taste seems OK still (tasteless), though it's hard to tell in coffee with honey and raspberry flavor. 2quality producti have been mixing hydrolyzed collagen mixed with tryptophan. i heat it once it has dissolved and drink it as a tea. it helps with my arthritis inflammation and adds more collagen to my body. if taken at night, it helps with sleep. i take 200mg. of tryptophan with 2 tsp. collagen in a cup of pure water as a tea at night. by mixing them together, the collagen passes directly through the blood brain barrier because of binding with the tryptophan and is distributed throughout the body where needed and provides a great night's sleep. highly recommend bulksupplements hydrolyzed collagen along with their tryptophan. try it and see. 5Surprised, really surprised.Bought this because this because an illness required the long term use of prednisone. This resulted in thin, easily bruised skin. It's not even been a week and these sores that have annoying me for the past year have already mostly cleared up. I was really surprised. I did some research in peer-reviewed journals (I'm attending a major university) and found a fair number of articles that can explain what happened. The main point would be that orally consumed collagen is biologically available for use in various capacities. Studies, although limited, show a fair degree of evidence for increased skin elasticity and greater joint function with consumption of 10 grams daily. I'm not much a supplement person but their is more than anecdotal evidence for the effectiveness for this product. One added point, the collagen may be broken down into its component amino acids and the exact nature of how this product works is not entirely clear. Nonetheless, the findings do back up the claims other purchasers have made. 5Manageable flavorKey reason for purchasing this over the other main hydrolyzed gelatin company (green cylinder packaging) was cost. I drink two TBSP a day for overall health.While this does dissolve in cold/hot, it leaves a slight flavor. I don't know how to describe it. It's not necessarily beef but it's something. If I add it in coffee, I can mask it if I add a splash of milk. I cannot, however, use this in fruit smoothies. Much too strong of flavor.I appreciate bulk supplements and they're other products. They need to do something else to process out the flavor 3More Effective than Other PowdersI am a 76 year old male with a problem of peeling skin around my eyes, which caused me to spend at least a half-hour every few days removing the flaky skin -- a pain. So I started taking Dr's "Superlative Good" Collagen pills as directed. Skin improved, but peeling persisted. So I switched to Amazon's Choice powder that instructed to take one 11 gram scoop per day. It dissolved easily, even in cold water; but after 100 days of usage, the peeling still persisted. I decided to switch to this brand because it was about 1/3 the cost. It is a finer powder and difficult to dissolve. Using an 11 gram (29.6 cc) scoop, I heat up a 1/4 glass of water in the microwave for about 45 seconds and then crush the floating clumps against the side of the glass with my spoon; it dissolves to a liquid solution in about 30 secs. This was more trouble than the more expensive powder, so I thought I would not order it again; but to my surprise, after two weeks of usage, the peeling is now gone. First time ive ever bought collagen of any kind, but I got it for my joints after doing some reading on it. I'm just barely 30 and have osteo arthritis, degenerative disk disease, spinal stenosis,etc. I wake up in the mornings so stiff and sore I can barely walk (because of it I can have a tendency to fall). Since taking this (and its only been almost a week) ive noticed some BIG changes. I gradually have been getting less stiff and sore in the am's and am to the point where it doesnt kill to get up for a morning pee! My husband read up a bit and also wanted to try it for his knee (had a bike accident and knee surgery in Feb and has had clicking). He took this product ONCE before his dr appt and there was no more clicking. He has continued taking this collagen and has had less stiffness and a bit more smooth movement as well. Neither of us knows how we lived without it in our diet, and neither of us wants to ever again! The taste and smell is not even as close to horrific of his MSM powder (that I cant get past my nose). It smells and tastes like when you take a sip of hot, clear gelatin (I can taste the gelatin taste even in just hot Jell-o). It dissolves fairly easy, too! I take a full teaspoon in am and again before bed in pm, dissolve it in a small amount if tea, water, milk, whatever, and just pound it back and have woken up soooo much less stiff and achey. If youve got joint problems, this stuff should seriously help and is worth a try to see if it works for you! 5Happy customerAs a fairly new, return customer to Bulk Supplements, they offered me a free sample of anything in their store to try and review. I tried Bovine collagen because I wanted to see its effects on skin and joint lubrication/repair. It has a mild meaty taste, but it s honestly not bad at all. I am able to drink a teaspoon or two of this blended with plain water to gulp down Tryptophan supplements at night (as other reviewers have said, because it helps the Tryptophan cross the blood-brain barrier), or mixed into my protein coffee shake in the mornings which I can t taste at all. I enjoy this supplement and noticed that some serious acne scars that had been taking forever to heal, healed up while taking this. My face also looks bright and dewy, not at all sure if these things are related but I like taking the supplement so much that I reordered the huge full-size container after finishing my free sample. I am very happy that I ve found Bulk Supplements and look forward to trying more of their products in the future. 5I use along with Taurine and MSMI use the collagen along with Taurine and MSM twice daily. I also give it to my two older dogs who were starting to have trouble getting up. They also get it twice a day. Both dogs are no longer stiff and can get up just fine. As for me, I am 72 and still jog, no meds, no aches or pains. Although I go through the collagen, Taurine and MSM at a pretty good rate, if you compare that to the cost of one doctors visit or one vet bill I am saving a lot. And you can't put a price on feeling great at 72!For several years I have bought all my supplements from Bulk Supplements for several reasons. The price is great, as is the quality, no fillers. It is so much cheaper than buying capsules. 5After four months, worked well to noticeably reduce hair loss!Soon after I turned forty, I started noticing that my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. A LOT of hair was left in my drain after a shower, and the problem kept getting worse. I started taking a hefty tablespoon of this collagen powder in my coffee every morning about five months ago. I had done my research and didn't expect immediate results, and sure enough, I did not notice any immediate change. However, after four months, my hair fallout decreased rapidly and is still lessening. At this point, I would say I'm losing less than half the amount of hair that I was. My ponytail is noticeably thicker, and my hair is shinier and thicker at the roots.I was skeptical, but I'm a believer now. I will continue to take this powdered collagen. 5
