cinnamon graham crackers in a cupI really love this tea. I discovered it after a hospital stay when I needed something warm and caffeine free to take my medication with.I heat the water for at least 2 minutes, then let the tea steep for 25 minutes.I follow this with 1 teaspoon of sugar and three shakes of cinnamon powder. if let to sit for another minute or two and blend after stirring it tastes exactly like cinnamon graham crackers.5Authentic chai flavor + caffeine punch!I am an avid fan of Indian chai. I've even tried to make it authentically (heating up the milk, combining spices into cheesecloth and adding to the boiling milk). Very good homemade, but a lot of work, especially weekday mornings under a time crunch. So I resorted to trying Indian chai loose-leaf and bags (read somewhere that the term "chai" actually refers to a type of prepared tea, so "chai tea" is redundant). Must have tried 3 or 4. Either too weak, too peppery, or too sweet.Celestial Seasonings India Spice Chai Tea is the closest I've experienced to authentic chai. Flavor is full-bodied without being overwhelming or acidic; spicy without being pungent--more spicy than sweet. You can distinctly smell the spices (cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, black pepper, Chinese star anise, and--vanilla bean) in the tea bags. A wonderful aroma in the kitchen after it's brewed, too!Since I prefer a bit more caffeine and body in my tea, I "double-bag" and brew the following:1 English breakfast tea bag1 CS India Spice Chai tea bag5 oz water5 oz milkMicrowave for 3 minutes; continue steeping to desired strength. Chai recipes suggest adding honey (optional), but like other reviewers, I find the spice blend doesn't need added sweetness.Happy to see CS India Spice Chai Tea on Amazon, since local supermarkets seem to have stopped carrying it in favor of flavored green tea. Great deal too!5CoconutchaiI was trying to replace gypsy coconut chai, because I can't get it on Amazon anymore. Surfed the web and it appears that ghpsy tea folks have deleted their website and discontinued phone service, and have probably gone out of business. The gypsy coconut chai was my favorite, so I am trying to find a substitute. The Celestial Seasonings, Decaf Sweet Coconut Thai has an intense spice flavor, compared to my gypsy's mild ginger and coconut variety which was very relaxing. This Celestial Seasonings brand is good if you are into the stronger flavors.3comes pretty close to Indian ChaiThis product is recommended for any one who likes a modest amount of spice in their tea, but don't expect a duplicate of what you may have had on your visit to India.I bought this with the expectation of getting the flavor and taste of Indian Chai. Flavor is real and even my teenage daughter started lliking Indian tea after introducing this. I will give only 4 stars because the taste is not exactly the same and a few notches below the traditional Indian tea. It is mainly due to the amount of drying and roasting of the tea, cardamom which seems to be at the lower end and certain spices and a taste of vanilla at the higher end. However, certain spices and flavor are correctly blended to be certainly called as Indian Chai. Best results were obtained when the tea bag is dipped after completely boiling 1-cup water and stirring it for about 90 s. I prefer to add 3/4 teaspoon sugar and about 4 teaspoons of milk and warming it for 20 s in the microwave.Packages are in a strip and not individually packed. This is not a big issue.4Perfect way to end the dayI have been drinking this pretty much every evening for the past year. I had a hard time finding this flavor in my local stores, and I was delighted to find it at Amazon. Yes, it might be a bit more expensive this way, but it's worth it to me to have 6 shiny boxes lined up on my shelves, all ready for me to brew a cup. In a way it reminds me of an old flavor from Celestial Seasonings--Pelican Punch. I agree with the person who loves chai spice flavor but sometimes finds that to be a bit too dark. This decaf coconut thai is excellent! And in the daytime I love PG Tips, another black caffeinated tea that is available through Amazon.55-STAR TASTE EXPERIENCEFirst this tea is NOT caffeine-free red tea. It is India Spice Black Tea and contains caffeine. We would have sent this back but it tastes too good. Brewing it fills the house a delightful fragrance. The spices (Cinnamon, Ginger, Cloves, and Nutmeg) are blended to produce a smooth but bold and satisfying taste experience. Also contains anise, but it very subtle. If you like chai tea or chai lattes you will like this.PROS:Delightful AromaAll Natural IngredientsGood for Multiple Cups from Single TeabagEconomicalCONS:Contains CaffeineNo String on TeabagsRecommended: Yes.5My Favorite ChaiWhen it comes to Chai tea, this Celestial Seasonings Chai Decaf Tea, Sweet Coconut Thai is my favorite. I really love the Indian and Thai fusion of flavors in this tea. A perfect combination I must say. I like the coconut taste in this tea, and when it comes to Thai-inspired at-home teas, this Celestial Seasonings Sweet Coconut Chai definitely tastes better than Yogi Tea's Sweet Thai Delight tea. It's also a bonus that this tea is decaffeinated, and as the other Amazon reviewers have said, this tea is definitely perfect for relaxation and before going to bed. If you like Thai-inspired teas such as this, I also suggest trying Harney and Sons' Bangkok Green Tea with Thai Flavors. It's an excellent, delicious fine tea with coconut, vanilla, ginger, and lemongrass. I also highly recommend The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's Thai-picked Lemon Chamomile, Blueberry Peach Green Tea, and Spring Peach Oolong Teas. Another tea with some Thai influence is the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts' Organic Berry Berry Caffeine-Free tea. For cold Thai teas, I highly recommend Taste Nirvana's Real Thai Tea Latte and Real Green Tea Latte. My parents were born and raised in Thailand, and thus I'm Thai American. If you actually visit Thailand, which I have multiple times since the majority of my relatives live there, then I highly recommend trying Thai Chrysanthemum tea. I had the best tea I've ever had in my entire life in Thailand. And that's saying something because I've actually traveled up (sometimes my small traveling party and I had to walk a long and grueling hike for intervals of 30 minutes to a whole hour. Even actor Blair Underwood made a comment how he was amazed that even elderly Chinese women could climb up these mountains for long periods of time, and claimed they were in better shape than him! That's how I felt as well. If you visit China, you will see that a lot of Chinese are very physically fit - they walk, hike, bike a lot and do all sorts of exercises such as swimming and Tai Chi and fan exercises in their parks) the tea-growing terraced mountains in and around the Guilin region of China and tasted tea from those Chinese regions and also tasted some tea when I traveled to Japan, but those Asian teas don't compare to the Chrysanthemum tea I had many years back in northern Thailand. (I haven't traveled to England and India yet, but would love to. I bet the teas there are amazing. But like I said, from all the countries I've traveled to so far - Thailand has the best teas, cold and hot.) When I think about it, I was very young then, and I should have asked the Thai waitress where they got their tea from. All I know is that I drank that tea at a restaurant at a Thai hotel resort many years back in Northern Thailand not far from Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle region. Anyways, I have given boxes of this Celestial Seasonings Sweet Coconut Thai Chai Decaf Tea as small gifts to friends in the past few years. The fact that you can order this in packs of six at an affordable price is great, and allows you the luxury to share some of this tea with friends and family. My verdict is that this is a nice aromatic, delicious tea to unwind for the day.5Review: Celestial Seasonings Chai Tea, Decaf India Spice, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6)I really love chai tea. I tried plenty of brands, and Twinings used to be my favorite. Until I tried Celestial Seasonings decaf chai tea. It is a bit spicier than Twinings, which I consider to be a little on the bland side. I have a favorite Indian restaurant where they serve authentic chai tea. And that is really hard to beat. But honestly, if I want a nice rich cup of chai tea that's close to authentic I mix three-quarter cup of hot milk (about 200 degrees) and add that to a quarter cup of hot water with two teabags and brew for eight minutes on a warming plate (I use my Bunn coffee maker for the hot water and the warming plate!). With a little honey added, this Celestial Seasonings chai tea comes really close to the restaurant quality stuff, really rich tasting. Most of the time though, I just brew the two teabags with hot water and add some half-and-half as a creamer along with honey. And the 20 count bags in a six pack is really economical. With the free shipping they really beat the supermarket price. Highly recommended. Four stars.4Favorite Decaf Chai teaI stumbled across this tea when traveling out of state and fell in love!! I returned home and tried to find it at my local grocery store with no luck. Of course good 'ole Amazon has it and on Subscribe & Save. Sign me up! (I hope I don't jinx myself here)I like that the tea is decaf, which means I can drink it in the evening if needed and it uses Rooibos (South African red tea). The flavors are terrific and it smells great while stewing. There is no string attached to the tea bag but that doesn't bother me. It is a great way to end my day.....I think I'll go make myself a cup now.5Deliciously Spicy!I used to make my own chai tea from a recipe I got off the internet, then I discovered I could get a good chai from Celestial Seasonings, and started doing that instead. I ordered this item because my favorite Celestial Seasonings chai had been discontinued. I am very pleased with this tea as a replacement flavor. It's so rich in spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg that it almost feels like my tongue is tingling when I drink it! It also has a touch of vanilla, which I love. I happily look forward to my two cups, morning and afternoon, each day. I ordered a 6-box case at a much better price than I can get at a local supermarket. Thank you, Amazon!5
