Customer Reviews

They work. There seems to be as many ways to use these and as many tips, as there are reviews and answered questions. So, I'll just share mine. First and foremost - they work. My ears react on takeoffs and landings quite unpredictably. Or used to. Sometimes, I'd fly with no consequences, and sometimes it would feel like somebody stuck a rusty screwdriver up each of my ears and was slowly turning it pushing further in. In the worst case the ears stayed stuffed for 2-3 days. Not anymore.Honestly, I don't like the feeling of these sitting inside of my ears. But I also hate earbuds (only use over the ear headphones, unless I must otherwise), or anything else that goes into my ears. So I use them for as short duration of time, as I must. I'd put them in when the engines begin roaring at the end of a runway and take them out as soon as we are at the cruising altitude, and then back in, when the descent begins and out again at the touchdown. Some people recommend to keep them in until the door opens, but in my particular case it was never an issue taking them out sooner.Since I've started using these - I never had stuffed ears, while flying. I usually use the same pair for a round trip if returning within 7 days, or open up a new one on longer trips. Why 7 days? Honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe I read it in the instructions somewhere, but this number somehow stuck in my head. I never had one fail on the return trip as of yet. 5Absolutely no discomfort during flight, love these!I have an ear that constantly feels stuffy, I feel like I'm "popping" it even when at no elevation, and has always been painful when flying. When I was planning a flight recently, I looked online to find some suggestions and found these. I used them for both legs of my flight, and had absolutely no discomfort! On the outbound flight, I used them in both ears, for both takeoff and landing, with them out of my ears for about an hour mid-flight. I put them in, as directed, just before takeoff, and then took them out when we reached cruising altitude; about an hour before landing, I put them in again and took them off when we were on the ground. No discomfort! For the return flight, I did the same but just put it in the one ear that I usually have a problem with, and again no discomfort! For me, using them in one ear seems to work, but that's a personal choice. I will definitely use these for future flights. 5Can't fly with out themI have found these original EarPlanes do the best job for me. The cheaper CVS brand did not work. Flents are more comfortable in my ears but not as effective. I also tried the new EarPlanes eP2 Reusables. They did not seem to fit well in my ears and were uncomfortable. Since they didn't fit well, I was concerned they might not be effective. I took them out and inserted the original ones before we even took off. The price on Amazon is much cheaper than buying them at a drug store. 5I will NEVER fly without these againI'm in my mid-30s and have never been able to fly without having ear pain raging from 5/10 to 10/10. I have smaller than average Eustachian tubes and the pressure does not equalize for me sometimes at all. Up until this past week, I have always had to bring tons of gum with me, sip water, open/close my mouth, yawn, etc. to get my ears to stop hurting. Sometimes all this works a little, sometimes not at all, but I was always left with some level of pain. I just got back from a trip to Aruba which included 3 flights there and 3 flights back. On the first segment I put them in, didn't have any issues on the ascent but figured it was too good to be true so I waited for the true test: the descent. We got to the gate and the opened the doors and I literally started bawling. I had zero issues. No pain. No frantic scramble to grab a piece of gum when they announced they were starting their descent. None of that. I didn't want to chance it so I left them in for the entire flight each time. I used the same pair for all 3 flights there and switched to a new pair on the way back for the remaining 3 flights just out of caution. There were times when I could hear/feel my ear cracking with the pressure change but had no pain with that at all. My ears were a little sore after taking them out but that's something I will gladly deal with to not have the stabbing ear pain I typically experience.I bought the kids version for my 6 year old daughter who started experiencing trouble/pain on our last trip and she told me that her ears didn't hurt one bit. I will be leaving a review on those as well ( I might be lazy and just copy this review over)Get these, insert them properly, enjoy pain-free flying. These are life-changing. 5It just didn't feel good but it did workA life saver.I used to use nasal spray. But it use to raise my blood pressure and I already has high blood pressure. It also made my heart flutter. It just didn't feel good but it did work. With out it I would get a bad headache, ear ache, and stuffy head. The nasal spray worked but messed me up on other places. That's where the ear planes come in. It all natural with no side affects. Just plug them in and your done. Iowa's surprise but they actually worked. No headache, no ear ache, no stuffy head, no anything. It was like I never got on a airplane. And believe. Me I had it bad if I didn't use anything. My ears would ache for days. By the time my vacation is over my ears are recovering and I have to fly back to start it all over.Get these. 5ReusableI suffer from ear pain when I fly, it hurts so bad it brings me to tears. My ENT specialist recommended these, I accidentally bought the wrong size. I usually prefer the child size (petite female). Life savers! I clean them, store them in the provided container and reuse them for much longer than it says on the box and still work fine. 5These magic earplugs will eliminate ear pain during take off/landing airplane!!!My family first started using these several years ago, on the advice of a friend. My mom and I both suffer from extreme ear pain when we're in an airplane during take off and landing; that change in pressure is horrendous. The pain was bad enough that it made me seriously dread any flight. After I started using these earplanes during take off/landing, the pain disappeared! I put them in while we are on the tarmac. Once we are at cruising altitude, it's not a problem and I take them out until I hear the announcement that we are preparing to land, and I put them back in.I was so impressed that I bought a pack of them for my mother, who had even more pain than I did, and after her last flight to come visit me, she happily reported no pain whatsoever with these magical ear plugs. There is a little ceramic ball inside the plug that somehow keeps air pressure more consistent. Just to be clear, these are not the type of ear plugs that you'd use to block out noise; they are specifically for reducing the painful pressure changes associated with flying. The directions on the back state that each pair is good for a round trip flight (meaning two plane rides). I have definitely reused a pair multiple times without any issue. I'm not really sure just how many flights they will last, so usually after 3-4 roundtrip flights I switch to a new pair, just to be safe.Let me know if you have any questions. If you found my review helpful, I'd appreciate it if you consider leaving me feedback! 5Don't fly without them.I LOVE THESE BAD BOYS. My whole life I have hated flying because of how my inner reacts -- sever pain during flight that has brought me to tears, plugged up for days afterwards. A coworker recommended these last year and I bought a pair from Walgreens...They have changed my life. In the dozen flights since I've started wearing them my ears have only plugged up and popped one time. Seriously, if you have ANY issues with your inner ears during flights, this is the answer. They don't really block out noise, since there's a hole through the middle, FYI.The only con is that I can't watch movies during the flight because obvs, no room for earbuds, and headphones push against them very uncomfortably. But really you only need to wear them the first and last 30-40 minutes of the flight, while you're changing altitude quickly. 5AmazingI have terrible ear pain on planes, but with these I was pain free. I will never fly without these!!! 5No More Excruciating PainWhen I started my career and had to start flying a few times a year I discovered I had bad problems on airplane descent. It felt like I was being stabbed for 40 minutes with a knife in my ear. I had blood vessels rupture and the ear fill with fluid during two really bad instances. ENT recommended the use of Afrin before takeoff. Couple that with the Earplanes I discovered searching online and I've not had a repeat episode in 5 years throughout a couple of dozen flights.Earplanes are not always comfortable, but they are never so uncomfortable that they hurt to use. I have trouble sometimes getting them out of my ear, as my ears are small and fingers big, so I have to get the tip better exposed to a good angle to grab with two fingers. May want some tweezers on hand. They will muffle sound a little, and trying to listen with any kind of headphone, even over ears, is futile unless you really boost volume to max. So try to read a book or nap and forget about your troubles, but if like me, you still spend time yawning to help reduce pressure throughout the flight.I've used pairs for multiple flights and haven't noticed a decrease in performance. For sanitation purposes, I'd not use them more than three or four times max, especially if they get wax on them. I usually wear them the whole flight. The times I take them out and reinserted them before descent began, it seemed they were not as effective, but still no excruciating pain had they not been worn.I don't know for sure if Afrin or the Earplanes alone is all I need, but I know the Earplanes help slow the intensity of pressure change and compliment Afrin's work at shrinking sinus vessel pressure. Pretty sure I've heard the ball in the center move during more intense pressure changes. Given repeat trips to ENT in past after flights, I will not risk the experiment to see which is most necessary. All that to say, if you struggle with pressure changes on planes, give them a shot. I will never fly without them. 5
