Customer Reviews

Great tasting productI'm a bubble tea fan and so I thought I'd try to make my own. I read all of the product reviews before buying it - I suggest reading them and following the suggested cooking methods from the other buyers. I didn't do the five minute method as per the packaging. I shook any extra dust off them and put them in boiling water for 25 mins. Heat off and sit for five minutes, then drop them in a sugar/water solution. Perfectly cooked. My bubble tea ended up being lots of bubble and a little tea...5Microwave in 45 seconds!!!Ordered in December. The product came air tight packaged with no damage. The package design is cheesy and obnoxious, but who cares. I put the product in Tupperware so not to scare anyone in my house. I use it with hot milk tea and overall it s very similar to another higher priced brand boba I normally purchase. I use two tablespoons of boba and 1/4 cup of hot water. Microwave for 45 seconds to soften the boba (you will see the boba rise in the water and that s when you know it s ready). Then I put the tea bag in and rest of hot water with milk. It s perfect and consistent every time. This boba yields the same result. Switching to this brand for now.5Not vacuum sealed & has moisture! Yay.My delivery ended up being delayed, which obviously isn t great as we pay for prime service and expect a package on the correct due date. The product arrived and the packaging was not vacuum sealed. After looking into the package the moisture was outstanding. I decided to preserve these I would need to vacuum seal them on my own. So I sealed a few bags and noticed the same moisture issue and ended up leaving them out on paper plates to dry out again for about an hour. Once I tried sealing after drying them no traces of moisture so far.I m a little sad that they weren t sealed and they had a moisture issue. I ve decided to still give these a shot and hope no more issues arise.I hope this supplier betters in quality before I must purchase another bag.2Good if you ignore the instructionsThis product says "ready in 5 minutes" in both English and Chinese, but reviews said it needs to cook longer. So I tested three small batches. If you boil it for five minutes, it's barely acceptable and doesn't stay edibly soft for more than several minutes. If you boil it for five minutes and then simmer another 10 minutes, it's better, but still not properly cooked. Batch 3 was just right: boil about 25 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave the pearls steeping in the hot water for about another 25 minutes, then drain, rinse, and put into honey-borwn-sugar syrup. Yes! Excellent boba consistency, holds for several hours.4Same product you get when you pay for bubble teaIt s a HUGE bag! I don t recommend if you aren t a huge bubble tea fan like my family and i, we love bubble tea and it s just too expensive when you have a big family, I bought the popular 8 oz bag and the bubbles where delicious and easy to make but I finished that bag in 2 days, so I decided to get a bigger bag but this one is ridiculous big! 6 pounds of bubble tea is a lot so if you are just planning on experimenting bubble for tea for the first time at home, or you tend to forget what you have in your kitchen this bag is not for you! But if you are a bubble tea addict like we are go for it! Taste delicious if you soak the bubble once it s cooked in water with brown sugar.5I Buy Them For The CafeI purchase these from Amazon when I need an emergency shipment. We usually buy them by the case from a supplier in Philadelphia when we make our monthly trips . We live an Baltimore and sell a lot of boba drinks during the summer months so, we may run out unexpectedly. We are a very fast paced cafe so time is of the essence when we need good quality boba. The E-FA brand has been the only 5 minute brand I have found. Prior to Amazon.com, I have only been able to find it in Philadelphia were we have to pick it up or a distributor based in Atlanta.Amazon to the rescue! We received it in one day. Back to making delicious boba drinks. Just bring water to a boil then add the boba and let boil for five minutes...Voila! The quality is excellent and they stay soft all day when you cover them in simple syrup.5Tasty boba at a tasty priceThis E-Fa Brand Premium Grade Black Tapioca Pearls (6.6 lb) makes tasty boba at a tasty price.I have teens who are addicted to boba tea but wow! At $7/cup at our local boba tea place, it gets really expensive. Fortunately, I can make it at home now and it's as good as the prepared boba tea we used to buy. This is a big bag of tapioca pearls, the boba in the tea. They are dehydrated and vacuum sealed so you will want to store it in an airtight container. The pearls must be rehydrated and cooked, which takes about 20 minutes, as per the instructions on the bag. I did try the microwave method another reviewer mentioned but it didn't work for me in the same way as it worked for her. Still, I like boiling the pearls in the microwave as it saves time. Do not that as the pearls rehydrate, they bubble and can bubble over in the microwave so loosely cover whatever you are boiling them in.My kids like cold boba in cold, milk tea so you will need to prepare the tea ahead of time so it can cool. Make sure you use a strong tea and make a strong brew because you will be watering it down with milk. I use Numi Chinese Breakfast Tea but there are loads of strong teas that are available. My kids like it sweetened so I make simple syrup and keep it in the fridge but you can also use honey or even molasses. This boba tastes good and is easy to prepare to the desired softness. Now that I make the tea every night, along with simple syrup, if I am out, it's easy to just prepare the pearls as needed and the kids can have boba tea whenever they like. I also bought fat straws for the authentic, boba, experience. https://www.amazon.com/YABOT-Stainless-Angled-Tip-Milkshakes-Eco-Friendly/dp/B07T6ZKV2W/5Really good + microwaving with the tea makes it super-convenient!!I just got the package yesterday. The package does say E-FA brand as stated in the product description. It was a vacuum sealed bag, and the boba inside was just fine. They were not crushed like some others had found. Also, it was a single package -- not 3 separate bags as another reviewer commented. I am guessing that there are several different products from different sellers that got grouped together when Amazon unified the catalogs. Just for reference, the seller was GoodBoy for my product.I used the microwave recommendation left here by amatbrewer -- and the process works perfectly. Tea bags + this boba + microwave == my daughter can get her boba any time with no additional effort!!The only question is how long can I store the pearls -- its a lot of pearls!!5I've bought these 5 or 6 times by now. ...I've bought these 5 or 6 times by now. I keep them in the freezer so they don't get stale, and drop them right from the freezer into the boiling water. I cook them for 2-3 minutes. As soon as they look all black and glossy and don't have any more of the lighter spots on them. Some batches take longer than others, so I usually start tasting them at 2 minutes until the have the texture I want. I take them from the boiling water and put them into a brown sugar solution to let them sit for 5-10 minutes, which sweetens and keeps them ready for my bubble tea. We're addicted to this stuff in my family!5That's a lot of boba!!!My kids and I LOVE boba but it is hard to get in the small town we live in so when I found this on Amazon I could not pass it up.NOTE: previous to the 6.6lb bag we have also purchased the 2.2lb bag.The package arrived on time and in good shape.OK, so yes 6lbs is a lot of boba if you are not running a boba shop. I will be dividing the bag up into smaller portions and repackaging them using my vacuum freezer bags, and storing them in my freezer. This is the first time we have had this much boba so I hope that will be effective. I know from experience they go bad when we have kept it in a zip bag in the cupboard for an extended period of time (months).I know the package says ready in 5min but even the instructions on the bag suggests a total cooking time of something like 10min or more. There are many ways to make boba. My kids and I like our boba firm and make it to order as follows:Place the desired amount of boba in a cup, with some brown sugar and enough (preferably hot) water to cover. Microwave for about 30sec (more if you start with cold water). Add water (and/or milk) and microwave again to bring to a boil. By the time the tea has steeped and cooled enough to drink the boba should be cooked but firm (the way we like it, some may find it too firm).Softer boba, if desired, would require additional cooking/steeping. We have tried various other cooking methods, but we find this method works best for us. I suggest try the various methods mentioned and decide what you prefer.FYI we find the brown sugar helps make the tea taste very similar to the Milk Tea we get at boba shops, despite us using generic teabags (e.g. Lipton).5
