Customer Reviews

High quality, very effectiveI bought these to alleviate Morton's neuroma. Here are some of the treatments I've tried (this product last):1) Silicone stick-on pads. Useful, but the stickum wears off and they start sliding around in my shoe after a few hours or days. I've used them a lot, but have to readjust the position often.2) Thicker silicone pads that go under the shoe insole. These are also OK, but the pad behind my toe "knuckles" is too squishy for my liking (and the thickness transition is not abrupt enough). These are for running shoes. They stay in place reasonably well if they go under the insole, but not all shoes have removable insoles.3) 1/4" felt pads that stick to your foot. These work the best of all treatments for standing and normal walking. However, for long walks or runs, they can produce a blister on the soft underside of your arch. They are always perfectly positioned (just behind the knuckles of your toes), but for me they are inconvenient and costly ($0.50 to $1.00 per pad). They can be reused 2-4 times, but they don't smell too nice after the first time. I like to have these around for when I wear sandals, slippers, or just old socks around the house (they can also be stuck down to the sandal bed, where they will stay for months).4) Athletic insoles (full) with metatarsal pad. I typically find that the metatarsal pad is not high enough and the positioning is too far back for my foot. This could be a consequence of limited sizes available (small, medium, large).5) Emsold Ultra Thin Orthotic with Metatarsal Pad and Deep Heel Cup (this product). I chose these because I wanted an everyday solution for my work shoes, which didn't require continual readjustment. I've used them for only a couple of days so far, but I am really pleased. The construction seems to be of very high quality: The rigid mold has a raised arch and metatarsal bump, with a smooth (but not shiny) leather top that seems to be glued down very securely. There is padding over the metatarsal bump, which compresses no more than 2mm. This is exactly what is required to open the toe-knuckles and relieve the discomfort of Morton's neuroma *and they DO relieve the discomfort!* The heel cup is deep enough that the metatarsal pad gets positioned in the same place each time you put on the shoe. The transition at the front of the 3/4-length insole is barely noticeable underfoot, perhaps because the leather extends over the front of the rigid mold by about 1mm.When I bought these, their cost was about 1/2 as much as typical athletic-shoe insoles (#4 above) and twice as much as a pair of silicone stick-on pads (#1 above). They work great, and with all of the sizes available, they may be as close to custom orthotics as you can get. They may not be designed for sports, but I'm looking forward to trying them in cycling shoes, where rigidity is a plus, and the 3/4 length won't block the shoe ventilation. Might try running in them as well.[EDIT] After about 4 months, these are still great! I wear them daily for work, and really appreciate the relief that they bring. These are not designed to be a sports insert, but I've also tried them in cycling and running shoes. They alleviated my MN problem in each case, and I continue to use them for cycling, so that's a bonus. However, for my running shoes, which are pretty light and snug, the heel cup is a little too broad (stretches the shoe) and the little bit of extra heel lift from the insert tightens up the shoe against my fairly high instep. So for running I typically opt for a silicone pad. Still extremely satisfied, since I didn't buy them for sports. 5Emsold Orthotics - LOVE LOVE LOVEBackground: I am a 62 years old male with high arch on my feet. I am physically very active and go to the gym everyday. In February of 2017, I began to experience pain in the ball of my right foot. I tried everything I could think of .... ice, Advil, Keneseo tapes, some rest and also curtailing some physical activities. In May, I finally visited my podiatrist and he diagnosed it as metatarsalgea/capsulitus and gave me a cortistroid injection on my 2nd metatarsal. The foot felt better for a week. Unfortunately, I did not have the patience to wait for the foot to heal properly before starting my physical activities (boot camp) once again. And my pain soon returned and it was more severe this time.I purchased my Emsold Orthotic pair following my second visit to my podiatrist in November. This time he diagnosed me with Morton's neuroma. My podiatrist also suggested that a custom orthotic might help along with a second cortistroid injection. I got the second injection, but it turned out that these custom orthotic were not covered by my medical insurance and I would have to incur the $400 cost out of pocket. So I decide to search for a cheaper alternative and that is when I came across these Emsold insoles. When the insoles arrived, I was pleased with their craftsmanship. There are built exceptionally well. Using them took some getting used to. That is because these insoles raise the metatarsal area high enough that the bottom of the toes now touch the inside of the shoe. It was a weird feeling at first but it took 3-4 days to get accustomed to them. Initially I thought that my lack of pain was only because of the steroid injection, but as the days went by, I still found myself to be completely pain free. I have been wearing these insoles for two week now, and I am completely pain free. I have not started my physical activities to the previous levels yet, but I want to enjoy the pain free days before I start running and attend boot camp classes again in few weeks. I ordered the second pair for my other pair of shoes or perhaps my my athletics shoes. I am not sure how well they would feel while running and jumping because the inserts are reasonably rigid. I would be posting an update once I restart my physical activities. But in the mean time these Emsold insoles have been performing amazingly well. 5AVOIDED FOOT INJECTIONS AND SURGERY DUE TO THESE ORTHOTICSI highly recommend these orthotics.I am a nurse and have Morton's Neuroma. I ordered several different types of shoe inserts and foot pads in attempts to avoid steroid injections or surgery. These shoe inserts worked the best. They did take a while to get used to but the more they are worn, the easier it became, the less I limped and the pain improved. The price point is fantastic as it has afforded me the ability to avoid surgery and injections.Construction is high quality and durable. I've worn these everyday for about 2 weeks, (have I mentioned how much nurses walk?) and they are still like brand new. No signs of wearing down anytime soon.I wear these in my tennis shoes and dress flats without difficulty but can't wear them in my Ariat Fatbaby boots. They raise my foot a little too high and make my boots fit really tight. I ordered a size 7.5-8 and they fit perfectly in my shoes. I have sensitive skin and am prone to foot blisters but these didn't cause any rubbing on my heels due to the extra height difference or any blisters anywhere for that matter. 5Excellent product and customer service!!I have Morton's Neuroma, and while can insert the small raised pads in their shoes, placement can be difficult and hit or miss. I slid these orthotics into my shoe and it fit just right. The modest arch support is a nice perk, and it feels subtle. Being a 3/4 insole allows my toes to splay, another excellent feature for Morton's Neuroma sufferers. I initially ordered the wrong size and to my surprise, Eric Schneider responded personally the same day. I received the proper size the very next day! It is such a rare pleasure these days to deal with a business owner who delivers a superior product and values loyalty from his customers. He has mine. 5Excellent ProductIn a job where I am on my feet all day long, I have developed a neuroma in my right foot. I have struggled with plantar fasciitis in the past as well, so I'm familiar to foot pain. These inserts have helped tremendously. They are rigid enough to feel the support, yet comfortable to wear day after day. I have been able to wear shoes that I haven't worn in a while because these orthotics give me the needed support. One thing that's always bothered me about inserts is feeling like there's something extra in your shoe, but I have not felt that way with these. I forget that I'm wearing them. These were well worth the money! 5The Quality Serves, Wonderfully Worth ItThis is the first product review I've ever left because I was so taken with these insoles as relief finally visited after six weeks of neuroma discomfort and pain. I wasn't keen to invest hundreds of dollars in custom-made orthotics quite yet--especially when I've heard and read so many testimonials saying they can work as well as or better than over-the-counter orthotics, but they are no guarantee. Thus, Esmold's orthotics. They have a nice rigidity, a well-placed met pad (true to size), and a modest profile that will not invade the limited space in some of your shallower shoes. I also appreciate their 3/4 length as that also saves room around the toes.On top of quality, this seller is lovely, including an informational letter about met pad orthotics and hand-written note that made the transaction a memorable one (in that it did not feel faceless on either end).I have already placed an order for a couple more; quality insoles at this price are, I think, quite a rare find. After some long term use I mean to check back with an update. The only other orthotics I have found particularly useful for my Morton's Neuroma live in my work boots and are Powerstep Pinnacle Plus Met Insoles which are 1.5 times the cost but are full length and designed with some light cushion for athletics. I am excited to get my Esmolds in some of my nicer shoes. 5What a relief! These inserts are quality made and offer great arch support and pain relief in the ball of my foot. I thought about going to the Good Feet store, but after some research, decided to give these Emsold inserts with metatarsal padding a try and glad I did! Although I am self diagnosed, I believe these inserts are just what I needed, and are much less expensive than custom ones or even many others available over the counter, and so I just ordered a second pair. My only issue with them is that the heel portion is quite wide and do not fit well in dress shoes, (normally wear womens sz 9), but are great in my running/casual shoes. 5Prevent or ease painful foot problems.Just ordered my third pair of the Ultra Thin Semi-Rigid Orthotics. I was diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma in my right foot and these definitely ease the pain and make walking more comfortable. They even make my non affected foot more comfortable. I wanted enough to put in my slippers, exercise shoes and boots without having to switch them around. Thank you Eric for your personal handling of my orders. I think that if I had worn these orthotics in my shoes earlier in my life, I wouldn't have developed the neuroma in the first place. I believe they will prevent the problem in my good foot. Thanks so much! 5A great productThis is an excellent product. I have chronic foot pain issues due to flat feet and have used many kinds of orthotics over the years. I found this one by searching amazon for 3/4 orthotics (looking for something I could use with converse or dress shoes). I was surprised at the quality when it arrived. It s very firm and sturdy with a big met pad that is reinforced by the plastic portion. The top is smooth and soft. Seems like something you d get made for you by a doctor rather than a typical over the counter device. The fit was great for me too (43 works great for my size 9 feet). I just ordered a second pair for when the first pair someday wears out. If you are deciding whether to buy this, I would say go for it. It s an excellent value.Note/Update for clarity: This is a HARD PLASTIC device with a soft top-layer, not a soft cushion insert. The idea here is to realign the foot within the shoe to reduce pressure from misalignment due to issues such as "flat-foot" (the foot's arch is too flexible or low to properly support the foot during the gait cycle). For those who experience "flat-foot" or other similar issues, a firm plastic device is necessary to provide the structure and support which foot can't itself provide. If you are seeking only a cushioned pad to reduce shock, I would steer clear of this device in favor of something like a Sof Sole sport insole. 5Excellent choice if it suits your needs....These are an excellent choice for an orthotic if you have been diagnosed like I have with arthritis in the metatarsal. They also do not take up too much space in the shoe which can be a problem sometimes with full length orthotics. They are ridge which gives extra support.. This is a great product glad they are available on Amazon. I high recommend this option in a field of foot health where there are almost no options for metatarsal problems.. 5
