Whole Egg Powder works great in recipe's. Easy to use.They take some getting used to. These eggs need to be beaten well before use as scrambled eggs however cooking with them is even simpler than with whole eggs. They work great in recipe's. Test it out before you bring them camping so cooking will be experienced and pleasant. The instructions state that these dehydrated eggs need to be "[refrigerated] after opening" so just bring what you need and will use on trips. Otherwise bring a cooler. I would not back pack long distances with a whole bag unless cooking for a group.5Nice product!After wildfires caused widespread power outages last summer, I thought it would be smart to keep more nonperishables on hand. I have never used powdered eggs before and wanted to experiment with them to see whether they actually taste good and function well in baked items. So far we have tried them as scrambled eggs, which were fine, and chocolate chip cookies. The cookies turned out beautifully, I have to say. I used my regular recipe but used these instead of fresh eggs. The cookies were perfect--crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, no changes in taste, and looked delicious. The only change I made to the recipe was to use maybe a teaspoon or so more of water than the label recommended because the dough looked a tad dry. Anyway, really excited about this product! Will also try next time I make muffins or brownies.5Miracle Ingredient for low carb pastaI ordered The powdered egg whites because they were listed as an ingredient in a recipe for spinach "pasta" by chef Rocco DiSpirito which called for the powdered egg whites, spinach, garlic and spices. The result was nothing short of a miracle - basically a no carb pasta that was time consuming to make but works well as fettuccine or lasagne sheets. It was worth the time and effort. I've already reordered.51/2 lb (8 oz) Dried Egg WhitesI used them for the first time for a "fluff" recipe where I needed stiffly beaten egg whites. I am used to the "Just Whites" and thought those reconstituted a bit more easily, but I'm sure as I get used to using these, that they will reconstitute as well. It may be that my water wasn't as warm as usual. They whipped up nicely and they looked, smelled, and tasted just fine in the recipe, so I am very pleased with them. I don't feel safe using raw egg whites in recipes and the powdered egg whites are my only option when I want to make something like a snow, a whip, or a fluff. I've never had a problem when I used uncooked egg whites, but they make me uneasy.They arrived very quickly, and are nicely-packaged. The bag opened properly and the ziploc closure works. I have had problems with those, so I am happy with the quality of this packaging. I will order them again, and I would recommend them.Update 6/21/'16I have changed my 4-star review to a 5-star. I heated my water for 10 more seconds, and used a mini-whisk, and all of the egg powder reconstituted and whipped very nicely into stiff peaks.5The taste great because it taste like nothing lolI bought this product to make the recreation Starbucks drink, ice cloud caramel macchiato. And it was perfection! I mixed two tablespoons of egg white powder in 1/2 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of vanilla syrup. This is definitely going to be a money savor .I didn t have a Starbucks cup so I had to put it in a coffee bean one lol. And unfortunately I didn t have caramel.5Great for Humans and FelinesI use this as a supplement for my cat to help her maintain her muscle mass as she ages. It is a great option for a cat with kidney disease. The package is easy to open and resealing is a snap. Great product - cat loves it. Will be ordering again.5Improved my BakingWe bought this for specaility baking, specifically royal icing and macarons. After my kids became obsessed with making macarons after watching the Kids Baking Challenge, we attempted (and failed) to make a suitable macaron. After some troublshooting and cookbook consulting, we determined our problem lay was likely the egg white ratios and mixture consistency.After correcting this problem, the macarons still weren't a great outcome. We learned that egg white poweder when added to supplement the fresh egg whites can help stabilize the egg white mixture and help them thicken properly. So, we ordered this product. We added 1 tablespoon of dried egg whites in addition to the fresh egg whites. In our last two attempts, we've gotten perfect macarons every single time. Shown above: vanilla sugar macaron shells with a clentine buttercream filling.My 8 year olds were thrilled that we finally found the secret to perfect macarons! Small fix gave us great results.4Tastes like eggsThis was the second time I ordered these eggs, they taste great. One tip, would be to add the water, and let them sit for at least 5 to 10 minutes. When I do that, I can't tell them from fresh eggs.5Excellent valueUsed this for royal icing. Worked perfectly. I would suggest soaking the egg white powder in water for 10-15 minutes, then whisk with a fork to reconstitute. After that, use just like raw egg whites. Very long shelf life, and enough in this package for many, many recipes, so practical for the home cook/baker.5Great product, BUTGreat product, BUT ... use hot water when dissolving. It takes a little practice, and a fair amount of patience, but you'll get the swing of it. Of course, real egg whites are best for cocktail mixes, but many folks have been frightened away from such health-disenfranchised practices. For me, I am just lazy, but also do not wish to waste the yolk.5
