Lifesaver for the focused dieterI'm very focused on finding healthy snacks since I suffer from a liver disorder so paying attention what goes into me is important. I love that there is not all this additional sugar added and that it's 100% grass fed. I've been following a Paleo diet and so far with the help of these snacks to power through some hunger spots where I'd normally reach for sugar or carbs, I've managed to lose over 15 pounds in the month of January!5EDIT- These were a great snack, but recently they have issues with spoilage inside the wrapper.EDIT- as of latest order (3rd order via Subscribe and Save) approximately 25% of the meat snacks were spoiled unopened inside the wrapper. This is highly disturbing and cause for alarm. If you order these, check them thoroughly when they arrive and check each one before eating...DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EAT THESE IN THE DARK!!! Use a flashlight to confirm they are tightly sealed and not growing mold.These are very high quality meat snacks that seem to be all meat and very little fat...well, very little compared to a slim jim type of meat stick. These are well made and have a nice spice taste. They have a little bit of pepper flavor, but not a real spicey kick.I bought a large box of these and ate them for several weeks during a trip when I didnt have time or opportunity to stop for food. These are great, but in the future I will bet several flavors to mix up the rotation.1It's fine ground, dryThe upside is that the ingredients are healthier than some others. However, the taste is sub-par. I couldn't really tell I was chewing a meat just by the taste and texture. It's fine ground, dry, and full of pepper & salt flavor.The packaging is an overkill, and the unnecessarily huge label makes it impossible to rip the plastic without a knife/scissors.I wish they provide an image showing the other side of the package too. The one they put up is misleading.Bottom line: Not too bad for the price, but I would try something else before I re-order this.3I had read numerous reviews of bad bars that puffed the packaging and were essentially spoiled ...Lacking quality control with this product. This is still an ongoing problem for this product. 25% of my order had to be thrown out because the packaging was all puffed up and the bars a nasty dark brown color with something starting to grow in there.3Wasn t impressedTried these out because of the otherwise decent reviews, I was not at all impressed. Flavor and taste are subjective so I won t talk a lot about it, but for me, these bars have a greasy consistency, they seem heavily processed, and the taste to me was a cross between stale beef jerky and...well, stale beef jerky. It s hard to describe but I for sure didn t like it.Since taste is subjective (you might love them), I ll talk about texture, packaging and why I won t buy these again.As others have pointed out, there seems to be some air infiltration problems going on during packaging. I had a bar that was moldy. Not sure how anyone packing an order could miss it, but maybe it looks fine and then molds up during shipping.The meat itself has a greasy texture that feels like a freshly Armor Alled rough shoe leather. Hard to describe but that s as close as I can get. Not something I wanted to put in my mouth but I went for it hoping for the best. Too salty, too peppery and no real meat flavor to me for something claiming to be meat. For all I know maybe it is shoe leather. I spit it out and tossed the first one, tore open another and same result. The dog next door wolfed one down so I found a use for them at least.Others have pointed out the meat snack itself is significantly smaller than the wrapper, and the wrapper is a PITA to open.Won t be buying these again.2Excellent keto snacksI ll address the product, the complaints, and the company ethic:1) The PRODUCT is excellent. Since starting CrossFit, I ve tried numerous beef sticks while attempting a keto diet. I won t list them all, but this is very close to fresh seasoned beef. The flavor is salt and pepper with slight hints of garlic. The jalape o beef sticks have chunks of jalape o in them. The casing isn t too stiff, and the inside ground meat is soft. If Slim Jims are the Diet Coke of snacks, this is probably the kale smoothie; it does taste healthy, and lacks the processed flavor. If you prefer sugared, seasoned snacks, you ll probably want to look elsewhere. If you were to grind and case meat at home, it would likely come out very close.All the flavors are great, but I think I lean toward the jalape o and turkey sticks. Among the competitors (such as Epic), I ll probably stick primarily to Mission Meats.2) I read COMPLAINTS about mold and compromised packaging. Out of 3 lots, I ve not seen this. However, I have seen it happen with soup delivered from Amazon. This is a potential issue with how the food was stored (was it left in the blazing sun on a palette?). This has also happened to 2 of 3 boxes of jack links from Walmart. If you do get a spoiled product, contact the company.3) The COMPANY is admirable. I had an underweight bar arrive in my sampler and contacted them with a pic. A rep responded immediately, wanting to know lot number so this could be addressed on their end, then offered additional product. There was even a follow-up after product arrival. There was no promise of review (here or elsewhere), but rather feedback on their quality.Conclusion: it is a great product if you want healthier protein snacks. If you do somehow get something spoiled, the company will stand behind their quality and make it right. This is a smaller company intent on developing a good product and reputation. I would recommend!5Give this small family owned company a try, I'm glad I did!Tasty with no weird seasonings or off flavors (they are definitely seasoned). These bars keep you going, especially when you're desperate for a snack yet have few nutritious alternatives. They're a nice size, not overly large yet bigger than just a bite. I'm going to take them on a road trip and hopefully will be able to avoid chips, sugary snacks and other fast food treats. I'm glad they're made from grass fed beef as so much of our food supply is tainted with hormones, chemicals and other gnarly additives. Mission Meats is a small company, worth trying if you're looking for a keto snack you can trust.4BlehUnfortunately I was not super into these. They are very hard and chewy and incredibly salty. They are low in fat but at the expense of flavor. They'll probably last forever in storage though.2These bars taste ok, but quality control needs to improveBars are ok. A little too tangy for my taste. They're also spicy - if you don't like spicy food, I wouldn't recommend these bars. The biggest issue for me was that one of the 12 bars I received had gone bad. Apparently the packaging had lost its seal and was puffed. The bar was covered in mold (see pic). As always, Amazon customer service was terrific handling this - they issued me a refund right away, no hassle.3Forget all others!Mission Meats, has the best beef sticks as well as their free range turkey. Over the years I have tried many different meat sticks. Mission Meats Sugar Free Sampler Pack Grass Fed Beef Sticks & Bars & Healthy Free Range Turkey Sticks Gluten MSG Nitrate & Nitrite Free Paleo Friendly [Misc.] I have never had any as good as Mission Meats. It is very rare for me to write a review. I have to be really really happy or hate the product. I loved how the meat sticks were not hard to break off a bite. I didn't have to wait forever for the meat sticks to break down so I could swallow. Oh and they taste so very good!!! I am a gastric bypass patient and I have an awful time getting my iron up and keep it up. No sugar added and grass-fed beef Thank you Mission Meats!! You did it and I will continue to buy them.
