Gulp it down and keep it movingI've just started to take it so I can't comment on its effects as of yet. However, I will state that the reviews mentioning the strong taste are correct. I add 1 teaspoon of the powder to 6 ounces of water as it suggests. I simply gulp the mixture down, think about the benefits and then follow it up with another swig of water. Lol!3Works great if you are fine with being housebound.I was hoping this product would be legit.I usually really like this brand and I don't care if it tastes awful, I can get past that if it works. It works great as far as keeping me free of muscle pain and cramps, but I'm doubting that it can be pure magnesium bisglycinate. I know it has citric acid in it, which I usually have no issues with, but every time I take one dose of this, 10-12 hours later I have about 30 seconds to find a toilet, or else! it's non negotiable! It's exactly as if I drank a big dose from one of those awful bottles of magnesium citrate you have to use to prep for a colonoscopy. The only upside it it's usually once and done, but OMG if I was stuck in traffic or out in public! The whole point of getting the chelated form is to improve bioavailability, reduce stomach and intestinal irritation, and the sudden poo effect. It doesn't seem to irritate my gut, but having to be tied to immediate toilet access for a window of several hours is really not cool. That suggests to me that it contains a large percent of another, cheaper form of magnesium. To be fair that also seems to be a problem with a couple of other brands, they cheat on the chelated form by cutting with much cheaper forms of magnesium.2Good price and high quality magnesium - funky taste.I generally like NOW products as they represent a good mix of price and potency, and this magnesium is no exception. However, as others have stated it tastes really funky. It's initially a bit sweet and seems to coat your throat, then comes the funky chemical aftertaste. I will definitely go with a capsule solution next time.4A tip for great taste !Squeeze the juice from a fresh full lemon. Add a teaspoon of mag-bisglycinate. Add 1/4 cup of water to dilute. The sourness of the lemon and the flavor of the bisglycinate completely neutralize each other. The result is a refreshing semi-sweet drink with a hint of citrus flavor.5Challenging tasteHaven t taken it enough to notice if it s doing anything. Really struggling to force myself to take it as the flavor is like very bitter fish with a tart citric acid aftertaste. Super odd and makes me gag. I ll keep trying though since I have the whole dang bottle.4Magnesium For Pill HatersI hate taking pills, but knew that I needed to add in more magnesium into my lifestyle. This powder works well and I think that it has helped my system to be less "crampy" or "reactive". It does NOT taste good, so I highly recommend mixing it into a shake or smoothie. I don't even notice the weird flavor(bitter?) in my smoothies...5This Is Wonderful Magnesium!I want to set the record straight about this product because I see a lot of negative reviews predicated upon the flavor. First of all, not everything thats good for you is going to taste good. Thats just part of life. Second - this stuff really doesn't even taste that bad. In fact, Magnesium Chloride tastes worse. No magnesium product in powder form that you add to water tastes good folks, unless its mixed with a bunch of artificial flavorings - which you DON'T want. The only way to bypass the flavor is to take it in capsules, which in my opinion: is not only much more expensive than buying a in bulk powdered form, but not as effective. Magnesium seems to work best when its mixed and dissolved in liquid. I take a teaspoon of this in my coffee in the morning, and an additional teaspoon at night. I don't complain about the taste, because I know its good for me! Wouldn't you rather do whats best for your health, even if it is mildly uncomfortable? I know I would! We live in a society where we are driven by our tastes buds and not our bodies dire need for real nutrition. As a culture we often neglect health foods because of how our palate has been programmed for nothing but junk. This magnesium tastes strongly like the amino acid glycine in its isolated form. Aside from the strong glycine flavor which is very sweet, there is a very slight fishy smell and flavor. This smell and flavor is not an indicator that this is a bad or rancid product. This is just what pure magnesium bisglycinate tastes and smells like! I love this stuff and it makes me feel amazing and helps with my anxiety and memory. I actually enjoy the flavor! If you find that this powder clumps in your liquid, which it will, I recommend the following: Buy a battery powered handle coffee frother. Its a little device that whips coffee at a high velocity. This will allow you to stir not only magnesium properly into your liquid solution - but any other hard to stir herbal or supplement powders.I give this a 5 out of 5 stars. If you have a weak stomach, I can see how you would not like this. Personally, I come from the perspective of " If its good for me and will help me have a bigger life - who cares what it tastes like. " You can easily slam a teaspoon of this stuff down. Compared to other magnesium products this is not only incredibly cost effective ( under 10 bucks ) but it works wonderfully and I feel like this stuff absorbs much better than the magnesium oxides, citrates, carbonates, malates, etc. The only other form of magnesium that I find works as well is Food grade magnesium chloride.A+ Product. I love the NOW foods brand. They deliver quality products and low prices.5Recommended.I like supplementing magnesium in a bisglycinate form. It is far superior to any other. Taking it in capsule form however is quite expensive. I decided to try this product because it is much more affordable than the capsule brand I was using. The powder itself doesn't taste bad in my opinion, but I have noticed the taste varies greatly depending on what it's mixed with. For example, it is horrible with coffee; but, I actually enjoy the taste it adds to orange juice. Definitely worth trying.Pros: Affordable, excellent form, no undesirable ingredients, dissolves easily.Cons: Can taste bad.5Taste not bad as people say if you mix with apple juice.I have hypo magnesia due to a cancer drug I had taken 6 years ago. Levels are extremely low so I have to supplement with over the counter drugs. I cannot swallow a pill so I choose to take a powder form. I have tried so many different types and brands and I can state without hesitation that this is the best one yet. It s the NOW magnesium glycinate powder. Every review I have read states the taste is awful. I find it to be the EXACT opposite of all the other powders I have tried for the past six years. I mix it with about a 1/4 cup of apple juice and it mixes better than all the others I ve tried. It doesn t have a bad taste at all when mixed with this. Then I follow with drinking a glass of water after that. I have just started taken this the last few nights and my insomnia has improved a good bit so far- not awake all night like before. Hope I didn t just jinxed myself. Hope you try this one but just remember to try it with apple and don t let the bad reviews ref. the taste stop you from giving this one a try.5Horrible tasting powderThe flavor of this powder was so bad that I couldn't finish it. Everything you mix this with turns into this sickly sweet chemical-like after taste flavor. It's so bad that I can't even explain what it tastes like. The only thing that I was able to mix it with was sour oranges that my friend gave me. It was able to turn the sour orange flavor into a sweet sour flavor that wasn't so bad. And when those ran out, I used lemon. But that still was sickening. I didn't want to throw it away because it was me throwing money down the drain but I had to. Next time I will buy pills. No more powder. Ugh.2
