Customer Reviews

Great coconut milkThe idea of drinking cow's milk really grosses me out, so I switched to Almond milk for my cereal. Unfortunately, Almond milk is disgusting in coffee. Luckily my sister discovered this coconut milk! She is a health freak, so if she approves it has to be uber-healthy! 1/4 of this can is perfect for one cup of coffee. I only gave it a 4* because one of the cans was separated and stayed chunky. When I microwaved it, the chunks turned in to oil that floated on top. But that was only one can. I love this stuff!!!4I like it but it's inconsistent.I've ordered about three boxes of a dozen cans of this from Amazon by now. Each batch has been different. One batch was part liquidy, part solid. The next batch was almost completely solid, and this latest batch is all milky liquid.I can use them no matter what the consistency, but it would be nice if Thai Kitchen had better quality control. I liked the solid batch because I could make a wicked alternative to chocolate mousse with it. You can't do that with the part-liquid or all-liquid consistency coconut milk. But mostly I use it in smoothies and in curries, so no big deal. I like to buy coconut milk in bulk so I'll continue to order this.4Great deal but. .All the fat settled out, which was annoying. I couldn't even shake it up to make it better. I literally had to drain the liquid and then scrap out the settled coconut fat. I guess that works great if you are wanting it separated. I'm assuming it sat for a long time or something.4Not the Same!I always used Thai Kitchen because it separated nicely when refrigerated for a few hours; I use the thick separated part to make mousse and whipped "cream," and as a thickener in various recipes. Out of the last batch of 12, however, only two cans separated. The rest would not separate no matter how long I refrigerated them. Additionally, the consistency was very gritty. So now I think I'll be looking for another brand that will separate properly. Any suggestions?2Great in Coffee!!!Recently, I tried coconut milk in my coffee because I had some left after cooking curry. I drink 2 cups of coffee every morning, with cream - no sugar. Even though it sounds awful - the coconut milk was fantastic! So far I have tried two brands - the first was sweet, which I did not prefer - seeing as I do not sweeten my coffee. The second was Thai Kitchen, ORGANIC, unsweetened. The Thai Kitchen brand was MUCH better. It was thicker, and less sweet, very pleasant - creamy. I didn't see the Organic Thai Kitchen, so I just bought a case of the regular, unsweetened Coconut milk. I can't WAIT till it comes in! I know this is great in cooking, but seriously - when you have a recipe that does not call for the whole can, what do you do with the rest?5Love it in my coffee!I use coconut milk to flavor my coffee. Because of the high calorie content, I chose to try the Lite version. I am happier than anticipated. I don't have the awkward residue in my coffee that the full fat leaves, this makes an excellent hot cocoa, and it tastes great. It is a new pantry staple in my house.5Every single can is dentedYes, every single can is dented. And not just slightly, big old dents in the cans. The cans are extremely well packaged, in a perfect sized box inside another bigger box. The cans cannot move and the boxes are in perfect condition. Cans were obviously already damaged when Amazon shipped. I expected better of Amazon. If you're going to ship damaged goods, at least put that in the description so the consumer knows upfront what they are purchasing.1It taste great. Now for the down sideMy husband and I have recently gone on a strict diet, Dairy is one of the restrictions, so we tried Thai Coconut milk, we use it in our coffee, for cooking and I also make Whipped Cream with it. It taste great. Now for the down side, the last time I ordered it, the cost was $15.60 for the case. Why did the price go up, not only did the price go up, it more then doubled.!!!!!5YumTrue story: my grandfather had a coconut palm tree in the backyard. We'd drink the water and after he opened them up with a machete we'd eat the flesh inside. In other words, I like coconut. Usually pure or in deserts. With the newer paleo/low carb crazesI've seen people using coconut as a coffee creamer. I figured why not? In these cans the coconut milk comes separated in water/fat. When you don't shake it, you can pour the water in a glass (if you opened the watery part first) or simply scoop up the fatty deliciousness with a spoon. Put as much as you like in your coffee and you are "in"or "paleo".I typically keep what's left in the refrigerator and make curry with it. I only use this when I run out of real whipping cream... Now I know what I'm making for dinner: chicken curry.Oh - and yes of course this comes in a can. If you require the purity of a real coconut and extract the milk etcetera - be my guest. I witnessed my grandmother do that and I say, no thanks - I'll buy the can. I do thank her for the purity of her deserts (which contained large quantities of white sugar too).5Damaged product - will not buy againThis is a review not of the coconut milk itself, but of the packaging. The outer box containing the two smaller boxes of coconut milk was perfectly fine and was packaged well. But upon removing the coconut milk boxes, I noticed they were in bad shape (see picture). Sure enough, 10 out of 12 of the cans were dented (pictures). Some had small dents, so I kept some. But I didn't feel comfortable keeping them all. This is quite disappointing considering the price of coconut milk. I will not be buying this product again.1
