Customer Reviews

Excellent joint support and warming, particularly for folks who lift heavy or have an achy joint.I love this thing! I have never had a knee injury after years of squatting, but I decided to use these as a precautionary measure since I'm regularly repping quite heavy (for me) now on squats/deadlifts. This product provides a little support, but not so much that it creates a noticeable "spring" or lift-assistance. It may help me when I do a set of 20+ squats, but on weights for which I only do 8 or fewer reps, I see no increase in performance; only an increase in comfort. What I DO notice is that my knees no longer feels fatigued after really heavy lifts or after long training sessions. The sleeves effectively keep the joints warm and better optimizes blood flow (or so, I gather). They also afford a little stability to avoid/minimize deviation of the position of the knee. The sleeve is not tight, but it WILL tear at your leg hair unless you shave it, trim it, or use powder.I used to feel discouraged from really heavy lifts and long lifting sessions...but no longer. 5Very good sleeves at a great price!Great sleeves for the money. No these aren't the top tier sleeves and that's ok. I didn't pay top tier money for them either. These are a bear to get on if you don't research the easiest way to do it (inside out, and roll it up). I'm a big guy and the large fits my knee just fine. These things provide a nice amount of support and keep the knee really warm. I've found myself just wearing them for the majority of my workoutI've seen plenty of reviews talking about weakness in the seam and tearing, haven't experienced any of that yet but I haven't had them long, will check back in if I start to have any negative opinions about them. All in all, I feel like I got a great value. 5Helps a lot with knee pain, but unsure of the fit. Terrible durability.*** Updated to 2 stars from 4 stars *** Sadly I've had to amend my original review. After only 5 uses they've begun to tear and will soon be completely useless. The durability is simply not there. There's a foam layer behind a stretchy layer. The foam is what has begun to tear. I've only worn them 5 times and they still look like new, but the tear is only going to grow with time. I should have spent the extra on a higher quality band. :(These helped a lot with the knee pain. However, I'm not entirely certain the fit is right. I am 233lbs and purchased the mediums. They are very difficult to put on and rip and tear at my leg hair. They do provide a lot of support though. I'm curious if the large would fit better without reducing the amount of support. 2both size medium but different sizeso being that i squat 3 times a week my knees started to feel tender every know and then. i already have knee sleeves but with open patella and they are ok at warming up the knees but i wanted more compression. the Tommy Kono sleeves are the cheapest on the market so why not give them a try.i weight 150lb so i got the medium. when i got them i was surprised at how thick they felt. one thing i noticed right away was that one seemed slightly bigger. they also wernt symmetrical. i hoped that wasnt going to be a problem so i tried to put them on.i heard they are hard to put on if you have hairy legs and its true. you cannot adjust them without painfully tearing hairs. so you have to figure out the trick to putting them on.... flip inside out, pull them up, and flip them into place. it takes some practice and time. youtube it. its painful. imagine removing a band aid thats been on for a while.while putting them on one was hard to put on and the other was easier. so it was obvious 1 was infarct bigger. workout day came and i put them on and wobbled to the squat rack. they felt great. the compression was nice. knee warmth was quick. i squatted with them and they felt good but they did not have equal compression. i was able to finish my workout but it was distracting.so thats my experience. i probably would have enjoyed my purchase if my sleeves didnt come in slightly different sizes. both had size medium on the tags. i returned mine. i might try again to see if i have better luck next time. 3Great purchase.I wasn't sure whether to get these or the Rehband's and I'm very happy I choose these. My knees feel like they are brand new when I squat with them and they are drenched in sweat when I take them off. Once you figure out how to put them on it's really easy, they fits securely without needing to be pulled them up or adjusted while working out and moving around. I have no doubt that if I bought these 3 years ago I wouldn't have near they knee pain that I have now. I'm about 5'10" and 190lbs and the mediums are very snug.Update** March 12** After 4 months my TK sleeves show no signs of wear and do not seem to be stretched out at all. They still are very tight and I find them to be much more supportive then Rehand clones like the Sling Shot knee sleeves that I also purchased. I use these knee sleeves twice a week for squats and they are perfect in that capacity. I think that they would be too stiff and restrictive for crossfit type activity though and that could contribute to all the quality issues. They do rip out my leg hair but it's a small price to pay for happy knees.Update**October After 11 months my TK sleeves are still perfect, They have not stretched out or torn. I still wear them on days when I squat heavy. My slingshot sleeves tore after only a handful of uses.TK sleeves are superior than the sling shot sleeves on the only downside is that they take me longer to put on because they kill my leg hair. I would absolutely purchase these again. 5OK, Rehbands are betterI've been using these for about 2 months. They provide more warmth than cheapo neoprene ones. They are slightly harder to get on, but just slip them onto your shin, fold the top half down, and tug them up over your knees. Keep your thumbs inside the sleeves and work your way around your leg while tugging up. Shouldn't take more than 10 seconds. I have mediums (~14.5" around the slimmest part of my knee) and they fit well. Your knees will sweat pretty good in them and they will slide down and require some adjusting throughout your workout, but they are better than regular neoprene ones. ***Update*** After about 6 months, one of these ripped at the top. It was about a 3" tear, right where I grab them to pull them up when they slip. I replaced them with a pair of Medium, blue Rehbands. The Rehbands are way easier to get on, stay up well (about the same/better than TKs), and I've been wearing the Rehbands for almost a year now. I won't get the TKs again. 3Like new kneesYou can believe the hype. These will absolutely make a difference in your workouts. They give just a bit of support, but mainly keep your knees super warm during your workout. That's SUPER WARM. They are essentially rubber-lined neoprene, and I find my knees/legs get really, really sweaty. If they didn't work so well, this would be a deal-breaker. But they really do feel amazing, both while you are wearing them and after you take them off, so much so that sweaty, drippy knees seem a small price to pay. Wearing them over compression tights helps keep them in place once they get slippery. I am about to toss them in the washing machine, and expect they'll hold up if I'm careful with them.DO follow the advice of other reviewers regarding getting them on - it's not easy at first, and I'm not sure it's possible to simply pull them on over your knees. Practice at home if you're worried about looking silly. Putting them on for the first time is almost a workout in itself. You'll want to turn them inside out and upside down, pull them up to just below your knee, and then sort of flip them up over your knee. I think other people might describe this process a little better. Once you've got the hang of it, it's pretty easy, and they seem to loosen up a tiny bit with repeated wearing, making the on and off process go a bit more smoothly.Walking home from the gym post-workout is amazing. I have no knee pain at all, and my knees, in fact, feel better than they do all day. My knees also feel better in general since I started wearing them for lifting. I'm guessing that's from a combination of the support and the extra oxygenation from all the heat. I'd recommend these to anyone with minor, chronic knee crankiness, and wish I'd discovered them sooner. 4Pain-free squatting!I love these knee sleeves. I have never tried any other kind, but these are a miracle to me. I never had pain squatting until May when I slipped on some stairs and jammed my leg. I was prepping for a powerlifting competition and couldn't take the time off to let things heal. Of course the knee got worse (as expected). After the meet, I tried taking it easy on the leg, but even going up and down stairs was painful. I had been trying light squats to rehab the knee, but it wasn't working. Then I got the TK Bands. Wearing them while squatting 2 - 3 times a week actually healed my damaged knee. My knee is much, much better now. It's not perfect, but the daily pain is gone and I can squat heavy again now. They don't add more than a few pounds of push, which is great because I am a raw squatter and I don't want to have my lifts depend on the support. And unlike knee wraps, it is a joy to wear them throughout an entire training session. This means that I can do my squats sets and be done, instead of constantly wrapping and unwrapping my knees. They are comfortable enough that I don't bother taking them off until I get home. My only complaint is that they are really hard to get on and off. Maybe my legs are a little bigger than expected for my size, I don't know, but I'm in the middle of the weight range for the size (I'm 215 lbs. and I got a size Medium) and I can't imagine being near the top of the weight range and trying to squeeze into them, it takes me 5 minutes to get them on now.J.Ja 5GOODBE SURE TO ORDER THE SMALLER SIZE IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS. You want these TIGHT, TIGHT, TIGHT. They are SUPER HARD to get on because the rubber just doesn't slide against the skin as you are pulling them into place, and you'll be ripping any leg hair you have off every time you put these on. It's painful, but if you are man enough to need these, then you should be plenty man enough to take a little leg hair pulling, right? THE ARE WORTH THE PAIN to put on. I don't know of any better product in this category, even those that are double, triple, or four times the price. The primary wear that I'm seeing in my own pair, after about a month now, is from the effort pulling them up and on. You have to REALLY grip them and pull them HARD, and this is making the outer shell begin to separate from the rubber. I tried putting them on inside out, using the smoother side inside, but after sweating in them a couple times I think that this will make them wear out quicker, so I reverted back to right side out. Some people are putting powder onto their legs so that they slip on easier. That probably works great, I just haven't tried it yet. I would rather suffer for 30 seconds ripping hair than have baby powder on my legs. Just me.If you squat and NEED knee support, or even if you are a runner and need more stability and WARMTH, you can't do better than these TK's. 4Warm knees makes you squat over 9000Used these sleeves for about 2 years and it has never ripped on me.I think the reason behind the whole ripping/tearing shenanigan is because either people buy a size too small or they are not careful when they put on/take off these sleeve. With extra care, these sleeves can last you years.About the sleeves...they feel great!. Squatting when your knees are warmed up is the key to hitting new squat personal records(and maybe along with a belt). Downside to using this is that it causes your knees to sweat like a pig. If you can deal with the sweat, then then this is the product for you.Tip:Theres a video on youtube on how to put these on. Very helpful and worth the watch 4
